first steps behavioral provides mental health services for individuals of all ages, from children to older adults.

At first steps behavioral, we treat numerous mental health disorders not limited to Depression, anxiety, OCD, Bipolar disorder and psychotic disorders.   

Currently, our practice is completely virtual and we provide mental health services via telehealth only to residents of Washington state.  A link will be sent to your email before your session with the psychiatric nurse practitioner.

Yes we prescribe medications when medically necessary. Your nurse practitioner may adjust your medications during your follow up appointments when needed and will monitor for adverse side effects. You may be required to purchase a blood pressure monitor and scale to monitor for side effects. 

The practice does not routinely prescribe controlled substances (eg. Adderall, ambien, ativan etc.) due to telehealth laws and regulations. We currently will not take over the prescribing of controlled substances initiated by another provider. When medically indicated, benzodiazepines will be prescribed sparingly, for a short period of time not greater than two weeks due to significant lont-term side effects. 

Yes, we treat ADHD with non-controlled medications indicated for the treatment of ADHD. We do not prescribe stimulants such as Adderall, Concerta, Focalin, Ritalin etc. since they are controlled medications. We will see patients who are open to non-stimulant options. 

At first steps behavioral, we incorporate brief psychotherapy as an add-on to medication management during every visit.  For clients who need extensive therapy, your provider may recommend that you also work with a therapist/counselor.

For our self-pay clients, initial appointments cost $250 and follow up appointments cost $150. 

We require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling of appointments. Failure to provide adequate notice may result in a $50  fee.
